“Life isn’t as serious as the mind makes it out to be”
– Eckhart Tolle
There are going to be days where you do not want to do anything, it may be for many reasons, but one may be due to you feeling low and unmotivated.
And it is often easier to stay in that state and mope around the house than to do anything. Sometimes it feels like a task just to get off of the couch…we have all been there and some more often than we would like to admit.
And I personally believe having those off days is okay…we are human and sometimes it’s okay not to want to do anything.
But if you have things to get done and you cannot afford to have those days, then it might be worth trying the tips below to “pick-yourself-up”.
What’s even better? You can even try them right at the comfort of your home!
6 Easy Pick-Me-Up Ideas To Do At Home
1. Move Your Body
Moving your body doesn’t necessarily mean getting on the treadmill to sweat it down…although that’s not such a bad idea!
Movement can be any kind of activity, as long as it gets your body moving; ranging from stretching, yoga or simply dancing to your favourite music.
Moving your body will instantly elevate your mood by decreasing any tension or stress you are feeling, giving you an immediate relief.
Figure out what’s fun for you and give it a shot. It doesn’t have to be an intense workout, as long as you are moving your body and having fun, that’s all that matters.
2. Take a Nap
One of the most relaxing “pick-me-ups” you can do at home is simply get in under your covers and take a nap!
It is no surprise our feelings of doubt and anxiety only get worse when we are physically or mentally exhausted.
So taking a break and resting your body is essential to recharge your body and mind.
3. Write Things Down
Mental exhaustion can really take a toll on your energy and over well-being, holding you back from doing even the most basic tasks.
When you have a lot of things going on in your mind, it’s helpful to write it down, whether it’s tasks to complete or just your feelings or emotions.
Writing these things down, will help you unload your mental load and give you a clear picture of what needs to be done. Having a visual picture of your tasks reduces your anxiety and gives you the mental capacity to complete them.
4. Pamper Yourself
Who doesn’t love good pampering?
There are many things you can do to pamper yourself, and it doesn’t have to cost you anything.
Some pampering ideas to try at home are: take a shower, do a facial mask, paint your nails, or try massaging your head and hair.
These can easily elevate your mood, boost your energy and your confidence!
5. Read a Book
Books are a great way to escape from reality to give your mind a break.
While books can be a form of escape, they can equally be great motivators and energy boosters.
There are many types of books for personal development as well which can be helpful in elevating your personal skills and knowledge.
So go ahead and try it…pick a cozy spot and your favorite book and start reading!
6. Talk to Someone
Talking to someone can be one of the most effective “pick-me-ups” you can try, whether it’s a family member, a friend or a professional.
Talking about our problems or challenges or even our emotions can help take load off our mental stress and give us a different perspective on the issue.
Talking through what’s on our mind; can help us understand ourselves better. And sharing this with someone you trust can help us see things differently and figure out solutions to what’s bothering us.
Cup of Final Thoughts????
Everyone goes through moments where we simply do not feel like doing anything or don’t have the motivation for it.
It’s totally normal and human to feel that.
But not to worry, there are many things you can do at home to pick yourself up when feeling low, which doesn’t have to cost you anything.
Try the ones I have mentioned above and see which helps and if you have more to add to it, leave it in the comments!
